Which is Right for Your Vehicle? When it comes to shipping a vehicle, one of the biggest decisions you’ll face is choosing between enclosed or open transport. Each method has its advantages, depending on your vehicle type, budget, and level of protection needed. But which option is best for you? Let’s break it down. What is Open Transport? Open transport is the most common and cost-effective way to ship a vehicle. If you’ve ever seen a trailer carrying multiple cars on the highway, that’s open transport in action. Pros of Open Transport: ✅ More Affordable – Open carriers can transport multiple cars at once, lowering costs. ✅ More Availability – Since it's the industry standard, open transport has faster scheduling options. ✅ Efficient for Most Vehicles – Ideal for daily drivers, used cars, and dealership inventory. Cons of Open Transport: ❌ Exposure to Elements – Your car will be exposed to rain, dust, and road debris. ❌ Less Protection – While secure, open trailers don’t shield vehicles from weather or minor road hazards. ❌ Potential for Dirt & Dust – Your car may arrive needing a wash, especially after long-distance transport.

In a rare and unexpected turn of events, Porsche is restarting production of its limited-edition 911 GT2 RS after a shipment of the high-performance sports cars was lost at sea. The decision comes after a cargo ship carrying multiple Porsche vehicles, including the exclusive GT2 RS models, sank off the coast of Brazil. A Costly Maritime Mishap The ill-fated cargo ship, Grande America, caught fire and ultimately sank in the Atlantic Ocean while en route to South America. Onboard were several Porsche models, including a handful of 911 GT2 RS units that were meant for delivery to customers in Brazil. Given that the GT2 RS was already out of production, this loss seemed irreversible for those eagerly awaiting their vehicles. Porsche’s Commitment to Its Customers In an impressive move, Porsche has decided to resume production of the 911 GT2 RS specifically to fulfill the lost orders. This is a rare occurrence in the automotive industry, especially for a vehicle that had already completed its production cycle. The company communicated with affected customers in Brazil, assuring them that their orders would still be fulfilled, albeit with a slight delay. The 911 GT2 RS: A True Collector’s Car The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is one of the most powerful and exclusive models in the brand’s history. Equipped with a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine , it delivers an astonishing 700 horsepower , making it the most powerful 911 ever produced. With a top speed of 211 mph , this track-focused supercar is revered for its performance, aerodynamics, and cutting-edge engineering. Given its limited production run , many believed that once production ceased, there would be no second chances for those who missed out. However, Porsche’s commitment to its customers has proven otherwise, demonstrating their dedication to delivering an unparalleled ownership experience. The decision to restart production for the lost GT2 RS models speaks volumes about Porsche’s integrity and customer service. While losing high-value cars at sea is an unfortunate and rare event, Porsche’s response has ensured that customers who had their dream cars vanish into the Atlantic will still get to experience them on the road. This event highlights the unpredictability of global logistics and the dedication of top-tier manufacturers in maintaining their promises—even when the odds are against them.
